For nearly 50 years, we’ve treated more than 5,000 clients successfully. 

No one addiction is the same as another, and we recognize that a unique treatment plan and individualized care are what our clients need the most. How Our Treatment Programs Work

Newgate 180 provides a unique and industry-leading modular approach to treatment. Developed through years of working with clients and listening to them and their stories, we understand the many complex issues that cause addiction and relapse. Our modules help our clients find and develop healthy coping strategies. We work with clients to set goals and create a lasting plan of action for positive change and treatment. 

Our program and services include: 

• Emotional Intelligence: We offer modules related to emotional intelligence with the intention of sharing ways to recognize and manage emotions effectively, focusing on self-awareness and coping with negative emotions. 

• Self Esteem: Our modules include means to regain self- esteem, empowering you to regain self-confidence, and strengthen your self-esteem and self-worth.  

• Anger: In our modules and holistic healthcare approach, you will learn to understand how to manage anger and address the ways that anger can contribute to drug and alcohol use. 

• Grief / Loss: Our residential program modules include a focus on grief and loss and how this contributes to addiction. We share valuable information about the stages of grief and the process of letting go. 

• Family: We offer modules and weekly sessions dedicated to family programs; our family support facilitators and emphasis on family visits reflect our belief in the importance of family and community integration for your care. 

• Relationships: Our modules include a focus on how to recognize whether addiction is leading to problems in your relationships with others. We share coping strategies and the means to mend relationship difficulties and other difficulties such as fights with family members or lost friendships.  

• Responsibility: In our modular approach to your rehabilitation, we discuss your responsibilities and the role they play as you complete your journey toward recovery and well-being. 

• Choices / Spirituality: Our program includes modules on making choices and achieving spirituality through holistic treatment methods. 

Addiction education and relapse prevention make up the core components of our program at Newgate 180. Clients are treated according to their specific situation and addiction. Our sessions also include the following components, providing the foundation for successful treatment: 

• Identifying and coping with high-risk situations 

• Coping with urges and cravings 

• Learning to create a more balanced lifestyle 

• Community service and continuing care 

Our Facilities

Our scenic, comfortable and relaxing facilities are located on the banks of the Rideau River in the Village of Merrickville, Ontario.  

There are two key elements to our all-inclusive treatment program: a 30-day residential stay followed by 11 months of continuing care and support.  

We offer separate men’s and women’s residences and amenities such as a cozy TV lounge and games room, an art studio, a fitness centre, and lush gardens overlooking the historic and very beautiful Rideau River. 

Our peaceful setting and homemade meals have long been highlights of our clients’ stay with us in Merrickville.

We offer addiction treatment programs and a one-on-one approach to help you face a cocaine addiction dependency. We’ll help you overcome your cocaine addiction with the right mental health support and withdrawal management strategies. 

Through our individualized addiction treatment programs, we support clients suffering with opioid addiction. Together, we will implement a treatment plan that works for you, including the need for pain management and coping strategies for your specific situation.
