Newgate 180 Addiction Rehab Centre Announces Leadership Transition
April 1st, 2025 – Merrickville, Ontario, Canada – Newgate 180 Addiction Rehab Centre Board of Directors, Chair Patti Bordeleau, announces the retirement of co-founder and long-serving Executive Director Peter Kunst, and welcomes Peter Fitzpatrick as incoming Executive Director.
A pillar of Newgate 180 since its founding, Peter Kunst’s visionary leadership shaped the Centre’s modular treatment model, spearheaded the Women’s Treatment Centre, and helped thousands of individuals rebuild their lives. He also launched the At-Work Program—supporting addiction awareness in the workplace—and led Newgate to achieve Canadian Centre for Accreditation recognition in 2023. His retirement marks the close of an extraordinary chapter

We are pleased to welcome Peter Fitzpatrick as the new Executive Director. Peter Fitzpatrick brings extensive leadership experience across healthcare, corrections, and community services. As Executive Director of Southbridge/Kemptville Long Term Care, he led clinical and operational services for 160 residents. He also developed a comprehensive mental health and addiction strategy as Warden at Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre.
