Part-Time Cook

Location: Merrickville, ON

Position available immediately: Weekends 9:30am-5:30pm

Newgate 180 has been one of Canada’s leading and most respected drug, alcohol, and gambling
addiction rehabilitation treatment centers for more than 40 years. Proper nutrition and quality food
are essential to sobriety and life in general. Newgate 180 is seeking a cook for a permanent part-
time position to prepare meals and oversee daily kitchen duties for residents, under the supervision
of management.

Overview:
– Dinner preparation and serving according to assigned menu
– Lunch meal preparation and/or instructions for night staff for next day lunch preparation
(meals that can be warmed up via crockpot/oven)
– Keeping the dining room clean, neat, attractive and inviting, setting tables
– Inventory on food items needed
– Maintains order and cleanliness of work, storage and dining areas
– Menu preparation as per “Canada’s Food Guide” and in consultation with dietician
– Other tasks as needed or time permits

Qualifications:
– Min 1 year related work experience.
– Food Handler Certification
– Must be able to work weekends (9:30am-5:30pm)

Skills Required:
– Cooking skills with the ability to cook for larger groups (max. 25)
– Knowledge of foods and nutrition
– Work with special diets under the direction of management
– Ability to cook for a varying number of people
– Time management
– Planning and organization skills
– Knowledge of sanitary and safety procedures (Food Handler’s Certificate)
– Great customer service

Salary Range: $17.31 – $18.35
Job Type: Permanent Part-Time

Duties:‌ 
  • Program‌ ‌development‌  
  • Facilitate‌ ‌family‌ ‌group‌ ‌support‌ ‌and‌ ‌education‌ ‌sessions‌ 
  • Maintain‌ ‌ongoing‌ ‌follow-up‌ ‌contact‌ ‌with‌ ‌families‌ 
  • Clinical‌ ‌note‌ ‌writing‌ ‌and‌ ‌charting‌ 
  • Prepare‌ ‌final‌ ‌reports‌ ‌and‌ ‌correspondence‌ ‌with‌ ‌employers‌ ‌and‌ ‌family‌ ‌members‌  

Qualifications:‌

  • CACCF‌ ‌or‌ ‌ICADC‌ ‌certification‌ ‌or‌ ‌equivalent‌ 
  • 5‌ ‌years‌ ‌+‌ ‌related‌ ‌work‌ ‌experience‌

Night Shift Cleaner

Primary Responsibility: To perform regular cleaning and upkeep of the facility as described by the cleaning list.

Location:  Merrickville ON

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform regular cleaning duties
  • Keeping the facility clean and tidy 
  • Work as an integral member of a multi-discipline team
  • Perform periodic fire and safety checks during each shift
  • To provide support to the clients: respond to arising issues;
  • Refer to key staff as necessary. 
  • Prep work in the kitchen as necessary 
  • Maintaining shift log 
  • Clerical and administrative tasks as necessary 
  • Conducting internet-based research as necessary
  • Maintaining supplies inventory and notify appropriate staff for restocking
  • Answering telephones and taking messages or routing calls as appropriate
  • To oversee the security of the facility and our clients during non-business hours

Qualifications:

  • Clean neat appearance
  • Physical capabilities:
    • Bending, crouching, standing for extended periods of time
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs
    • Cleaning Experience
    • CPR and First Aid Certification
    • Climb step ladder
    • Must be able to perform task without close supervision

Min. hours/week: 12-24 hours – must be able to work some weekends

Shift hours: 9pm-9am – overnight

Wage: $15.20 – $16.47 /hour
